The Australian Devils made it through to the semi-finals of the Women’s U25 World Championship for the third consecutive time with a comprehensive 72-12 win over South Africa.
Led by their captain Annabelle Lindsay’s huge double double of 32 points and 24 rebounds, Australia won all four quarters by scores of 24-8, 16-2, 18-0 and 14-2, as South Africa struggled to cope with Australia’s height and speed, which gave them a clear advantage making 62 of their points from within the paint.
Australia rotated their bench throughout the match giving their less experienced players valuable court time, which didn’t effect their scoring with 32 points being scored off the bench.
Australia’s Georgia Bishop Cash said, “We played really well as a team, we got everyone off the bench which is always good and we got almost everyone on to the scoresheet except for our little one Tori, who is the baby of the team and adorable. It was a really good team effort and we all had fun out there.
“Looking forward to the semi-final we’ll be looking to back up our other wins, make sure we know our defensive structure well, make sure we pass it around and just make sure we enjoy ourselves basically.”
